The electromagnetic compatibility in installations fitting up (in a wide view) should not be only understood through the compliyng specifty of each individual componant. Cable installation have also to be fitted up in the more strict way as well in the safety measures as in the electromagnetic compatibility.

An installation not respecting the elementary safety rules (separation of power and signals conductors, electrostatic screens, screening, return-earth continuity, filters, etc...) can be desastrous for the reliability.

There are different modes of coupling: by electromagnetic conduction and by radiation. A correct layed out installation (not even “hardened”) will be “immune” against many accidents involving surtensions like power breaking off, untimely switching on, or accidents coming from atmospheric origin (lightning).

An original well conceived installation in the electromagnetic compliance will occur to be more economical.

Jokes apart, any equipment using electricity can be as well the victim of the other electrical equipments as their agressor and in some extreme cases injurious to living beings.

The best sturdy equipment against electromagnetic disturbances is certainly an “empty” box!!! and not made of any matter.

A special care is needed for people having medical implants.(like pacemakers or other implants able to be influenced by heavy magnetic fields.)

During the feasability study, AMR drew up a calculation board giving the electrical energies for the concerned products and as well the max induction in Teslas units, according to the types of windings. However only few installations are needing keeping the staff away consequently to a continuous magnetic field over 2 Teslas.
